Just how much profit will you get from cooking gas business in Kenya? Ever since the business was liberalized about 10 years ago, we have seen a drastic increase in the number of individuals trying their luck in the venture. But what many of us aren’t sure is how much one can make per month bearing in mind there are costs involved.

The cost of 1KG of gas is Ksh 100, which means a 6KG gas will cost you Ksh 600.The selling price of a 6 KG gas is Ksh 900 to Ksh1000.This means if you sell one 6KG gas, you’ll get a profit of between Ksh 300 and Ksh 400.In a day, traders sell between 2   to 10 6kg gas which makes them Ksh 600 to Ksh 4000 per day.

The gas come in two sizes,6kg and 13kg.Most traders sell between 5 to 20 13KG gas per month. This means if one sells 5 of them per month, he will make at least Ksh26, 000 per month.

Ideally, you’ll make between Ksh40,000 and Ksh 70,000 per month if you’re a small trader.

The only challenge here is that you have to guard your cylinders, otherwise thieves will be all over you. I have heard several cases where robbers break into a room where cylinders are stored, transport to another town and sell each cylinder for Ksh 2,000.they love stealing cylinders because there is a ready market.
