Conmen have taken over the loans segment and are now masquerading as Uwezo Funds Group.Through the website http://uwezofundke.com,the conmen will tell you to pay Ksh300 to obtain membership number.Once you pay,they will block you on Facebook,Twitter and the phone number you use….you will have nowhere to go.
Their advert on social media and in their email goes like this:
“Uwezo fund Kenya in Patnership with Youth Enteprise Fund has launched a fund which gives you access to fast and convinient interest lfree loans to your M-Pesa. Youths,women and men from any part of the country will benefit.The loans can be used to grow your business, pay your bills or deal with emergencies.The loans will attract 0% interest.
The Uwezo Fund is a flagship programme for vision 2030 aimed at enabling all kenyans, Youth, Women and men from across the country access finances to promote businesses and enterprises at , thereby enhancing economic growth.The Fund was launched by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya on 8th September 2013 and enacted through a Legal Notice No. 21 of the Public Finance Management Act, 2016, and published on 21st February, 2017.

To be eligible for an online loan:
1.You must have a valid Kenyan National ID
2.You must have used Mobile Money services like MPESA and/or Airtel Money for more than three months.
Please Note the following
Minimum Amount you can borrow is KSh 1,000, Maximum Amount KSh 200,000
Maximum repayment period is 12 months
After application you will be notified of the status of your application within 10 minutes.If the loan is approved,you will receive the cash within 30 minutes.

Why the fee?
1.The fee is used as security for your loan.
2.It is a membership fee for all first time applicants
