From tomorrow, July 1, 2018,Kenya Power will stop charging fixed charges. At the same time, the electricity supplier will increase the cost of 1KWh from Ksh2.5 to Ksh12.
The new cost factors in taxes and levies which amount to Ksh11.61 of the total cost of a KWh.This means that from now you’ll pay Ksh 120 to buy 10 units and Ksh1200 to buy Ksh 100 units.Initially,the fixed cost was Ksh150.This amount was deducted before one could purchase units.
In other news, The energy Regulatory Commission has reviewed pump prices for kerosene. The prices will take effect tomorrow July 1,2018 and will affect kerosene users across the country. A statement from the company read:
“Today, ERC has recalculated the maximum pump prices for Kerosene to factor in the Sh 3.10 per litre increase in exercise duty for Kerosene as proposed in the Finance Bill 2018. The increased duty takes effect on 1/7/2018.
For avoidance of doubt, the pump prices for Super Petrol and Diesel which were published on 15th June 2018 remain unchanged”
