More than 20 MPs and other politicians flew to Russia to watch World Cup. Reports indicate that they are being financed by taxpayers’ money.
According to figures seen by the media, each MP will spend Ksh 400,000 on air ticket,Ksh 250,000 to watch the World Cup final and Ksh 86,500 per day as per diem.In addition, each MP will spend at least Ksh 10,000 per day on food and another Ksh 30,000 per day on accommodation. In total,an MP from Kenya will spend upwards of Ksh 2 million during the trip.
Since 20 of them travelled on economic class and would stay there for 5 days, that means tax payers would lose at least Ksh 40 million.
