If you are going to file returns on KRA iTax system, note that there are new changes you should be conversant with. Below are the new changes:
KRA is constantly working on Itax system to enhance its revenue collection. Itax system is being integrated with other systems making it very effective and efficient. Some of the systems integrated with Itax are IFMIS, Customers Simba system, KPLC data, Nairobi water etc. KRA is using Itax system to conduct data driven audit where through the information’s provided they can be able to know tax defaulters.
Some of the new changes are as follows;
- Mandatory Update of Profession and Sector details by all Taxpayers.
2. Presumptive Tax Payment registration process both from the taxpayer profile and back office profile.
3. Transfer of all TOT Taxpayers to Income Tax Resident Obligation effective 01/01/2019.
4. IT2C return with a unique Profit and Loss account for extractive industries.
5. New registration and Filing for Special Economic Zone enterprises
6. Prepopulated ITR and ITNR return for employment Income Only for those employees whose PAYE was paid through iTax by the employer.
7. Separation of Commercial and Residential Rent during withholding by the appointed tenant
8. Tax Agent registration, cancellation and management of sub agent.
9. Upload function for supporting documents for waivers and objection applications in iTax.
10. Mobile App for TCC application PIN/TCC/WHT checker
11. Introduction of iTax Prior ledger debits and credits in iTax through a workflow process.
12. Collection of Housing Levy through the PAYE return.
13. TCC applications and approvals will not be possible if taxpayer has a return defaulter/non filer.
14. E citizen iTax integration to facilitate automatic issuance of PINs once the company is registered with Business Registration Services.
15. Tax Filing Software which will be a desktop application downloaded from the Taxpayer profile and it will make it easier to file returns especially those with huge volumes of data.
