You can now pay for NHIF contributions through MPESA.NHIF is mandatory for government and private sector employees but optional for self-employed,but it’s important to make your contributions since emergencies don’t knock, they came during unexpected times.To pay for NHIF via MPESA,follow these steps:
- Go to MPESA
- Select Lipa Na MPESA
- Select Pay Bill
- Enter Business Number(200222)
- Enter Account Number(National Identity Card Number)
- Enter the amount to pay
- Enter MPESA pin and press send
You will receive a confirmation message from NHIF that your contribution has been received.
NHIF contributions are based on your salary scale,the higher your salary the higher the amount to pay.The highest contributor remits Ksh 1,700 every month.This is someone who earns a monthly salary of Ksh 100,000 and above.The lowest contributor pays Ksh 500 and the scale belongs to self-employed citizens.If your monthly salary is Ksh 25,000 to Ksh 29,999 you’ll pay Ksh 850 every month to NHIF.
