Swahili is mostly spoken by East African countries, however the list below includes other African countries outside East Africa that speak Kiswahili
Around 5 million people in Africa speak Kiswahili as a native language while more than 150 million others speak the language as an additional language.
Here is the list of countries that speak Kiswahili:
- Congo (Kinshasa)
- South Africa
- Northern Malawi
- Comoros Islands
- Northern Madagascar
In total there are about 19 countries where a significant number of people speak Kiswahili. Outside Africa, it’s in the USA, Oman and UAE where some Kiwahili speakers can be traced to.
