Athletes from Kenya have been awarded by President Kenyatta. Each person who won gold earned Ksh1 million each. For those who won Silver, each of them took home Ksh 750,000 each. Bronze medal winners earned Ksh500,000 each.
A statement from State house Kenya read in parts:
Tokyo Olympics and announced cash rewards of Shs 1 million, 750,000 and 500,000 for Gold, Silver and Bronze medalists respectively.
The Head of State further announced a uniform token of Shs 200,000 for all athletes and officials, including the Paralympics team, participating in delayed Summer Games.
Those athletes who never won anything were only given lunch.
Other countries, like USA, awarded winners up to Ksh 40 million each.
Kenya won a total of 4 gold medals,4 silver medals and two bronze medals in the just concluded Tokyo Olympics.
