Waihiga Mwaura quits Citizen TV to join BBC—see his salary


Citizen TV’s Waihiga Mwaura has quit the station to join BBC.Waihiga joined the station over a decade ago, rising to become an influential News Anchor. He is the one who replaced the current State House spokesman Hussein Mohamed

The announcement was made by BBC who confirmed that he is joining BBC Africa .A statement from the media house read:

We’re thrilled to introduce our new presenter for Focus on Africa TV, Waihiga Mwaura. A former BBC News Komla Dumor award winner, and well-respected journalist, he will present the show from Africa – a first for the programme – highlighting our commitment to getting closer to audiences across the continent. Welcome Waihiga, we’re excited to have you “

Waihiga’s salary at Citizen TV was Ksh 800,000.At BBC he will be earning Ksh 2.5 million per month.He will be at the same level with Larry Madowo who is also earning over Ksh 2 million monthly.

Citizen TV is now looking for a journalist to replace Waihiga who has already tendered his resignation.
