Since Saturday this week PayPal to MPESA transaction website is not working. Kenyans have been trying to transfer money from PayPal to MPESA in vain. The website reads:
“Under maintenance
The website is under maintenance in order to serve you better. Please visit this website again in a few minutes.

Safaricom has not responded to Kenyans who use MPESA to transfer money from PayPal. It’s not three days since the platform stopped working.
One of the reasons why it’s now working is that the government may introduce tax for those transferring money from PayPal to MPESA.Nearly all those earning through PayPal are content creators who are going to be charged up to 15% tax on income. It’s believed that the tax will be implemented automatically on the platform. They will also adjust transfer rates for the dollar against the Kenyan shilling.
Another reason is to upgrade their system to make it more efficient for users. The system upgrade will take up to one week.
I contacted PayPal and here is the answer they gave me:
“There is a technical issue affecting Paypal but it is under resolution. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.^NN”
The issue is with Thunes,it has taken more than expected time to resolve it.
That’s is Safaricom nao
