Charles Muriu Kahariri is the man who might replace Francis Ogolla.He is currently Vice Chief of Defence Forces.Charles is from the Kenya Navy.According to Tonje Rules,it’s only a person from Kenya Navy who will succeed Francis Ogolla.
Another likely candidate is Lt.Gen Jimson Mutai of National Defence University.
President Ruto has the powers to appoint one of the two individuals to succeed Francis Ogolla who died in an aircraft accident.Ogolla was appointed to head the Kenya Defence Forces in 2023.The appointment shocked Kenyans because the president had indicated earlier that Ogolla was among top Kenyan government officials at Bomas of Kenya who didn’t want him become president.
Charles Muriu will be appointed after the burial of Francis Ogolla.
