President Ruto will tour Mount Kenya this week. Before then, he will talk to Mount Kenya residents through vernacular radio stations. His tour will last 5 days. This comes months after impeaching his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
At the moment,Gachagua and his team is in Mount Kenya, they have warned Ruto of hostile reception. They warn him against launching projects which were launched and done by former president Uhuru Kenyatta,
Sources from Mount Kenya indicate that the crowd won’t be hostile but they will not be as enthusiastic as they used to be. However, there will be a crowd that has already been mobilized by Mount Kenya politicians aligned to President Ruto. They will cheer president Ruto to create a picture that Ruto is still popular in Mount Kenya.
Outcome: We don’t expect any positive impact from the tour because the president is going to launch projects which were started by Uhuru. There is no single new mega project to be launched in Mount Kenya. Even if new projects are launched, already Mount Kenya knows that they might not be completed because the president has not fulfilled the promises he made to Mount Kenya in 2022.
Even after the visit,Gachagua will still be the Mount Kenya kingpin.
