The house started sinking fee months ago and if it’s left to continue sinking, there will be a hole that will never be filled. The best option is to blow it up and flatten the area.
From time immemorial Mombasa island has never been a place for skyscrapers. A highest building on Mombasa island used to be four or five storeys. This was simply because the underground of Mombasa were tunnels made by waring Portuguese soldiers from fort Jesus across the island and therefore rendering the ground surface vulnerable to holding tall buildings. The County engineer passing the house plans should be knowing this already. The island is not on top of a hard rock but a porous rock that can give way to heavy objects on top. Many of the tall buildings on Mombasa island are also in danger of sinking in future especially if they are standing on or near extinct caves or tunnels. I think the Ambalal and Bima buildings built much much earlier were researched thoroughly before raising over 13 and above storeys. The huge Real Estate conglomerates seem to know little about rock patterns forming Mombasa island and with their money they think they can raise skyscrapers on the island. Let the fallen building be a warning for those yet to come to change the skyline of Mombasa.
