Rigathi Gachagua was conspicuously missing in yesterday’s protests. The main reason why he didn’t say anything or participate is because he didn’t want to be blamed for the protests. Many government leaders were waiting him to say something then they claim that he had sponsored the maandamano.
The second reason is his security. Right now, Gachagua has a lot of following, which is giving the government sleepless nights. By appearing in the streets to demonstrate, he’d compromise his security. People could organise to eliminate him. He had to stay indoors for the sake of his security.
Another reason is that he didn’t want to interfere with the Gen Z protests. He wanted the Gen Z to fully be in charge of the protests. He also wanted them not to appear as one community affair.
Even as he remained silent,several leaders aligned to the government have asked the government to arrest Gachagua. Dismas Barasa claims that Gachagua was solely responsible for the demonstrations.
Up to now, Gachagua has not said anything about the demonstrations.
