Questions Raised as Government Hands Millions to Hospital Owned by SHA Chairman:
Kenyatta National Hospital, Kenya’s biggest public hospital, received Ksh 70 million from the Social Health Authority (SHA). In a surprising move, Ladnan Hospital, a private facility in Wajir, was also given Ksh 66 million from the same public fund.
What’s troubling is that Ladnan Hospital is owned by the current chairman of SHA — the government body in charge of distributing the funds.
This has sparked public outrage and serious questions about how government money is being used. While public hospitals across the country struggle with basic equipment and staff shortages, almost an equal amount of money has gone to a private hospital linked to a top official.
Critics say this is a clear case of conflict of interest and a sign of how government officials continue to benefit from public resources, while millions of Kenyans are left without proper healthcare.
