Do you guys put your phones on silent mode at night? Something unfortunate happened to a friend of mine last night and it has reminded me of a sad incident a couple of years ago. A friend of mine had an intruder incident last night. She tried calling all her neighbours but unfortunately, walikua wamelala and none was able to offer help.
Three years ago, a dad to a friend had a car accident. He was a lorry driver and always travelled with his co driver. They had an ugly car accident at corner baridi in Kiserian. The lorry had rolled and they were trapped inside, upside dowm.
The co driver was unconcious but my friend’s dad was concious, though he was bleeding and trapped. We also came to learn later that his phone had gone off (a client they had talked with that day told us so during the burial). So, he reached for his co-drivers phone from his jacket pocket and called his son (my friend). It was 3am, and was a rainy night. Aki huyo mzee alipiga a total of 42 missed calls. Non was answered. He also tried calling other people wenye alikumbuka number zao and non picked. When morning came, the son saw the missed calls but since ilikua number hajui, he never bothered to return the calls.
Later in the day around 10am, he got a text that he should visit some hospital in rongai and that it was urgent. Thats when he returned the missed calls. The phone was picked by a doctor. My friend called me and two other mutual friends tukaenda kumpeleka hosi.
THE NEWS WE GOT CHANGED MY LIFE!
The dad didnt make it due over bleeding. His co driver too d!ed. And the saddest part is he saw the first missed calls, then he saw them as a bother, put his phone on silent and went back to sleep.
Had my friend picked that phonecall, he would have saved his dad’s life. Infact, it would have taken him only 10 minutes to get to kiserian since he lived in rongai.
That scenario taught me some very crucial lessons. – THAT STRANGE MISSED CALL COULD BE A LIFE SAVER. If possible, please pick it. Usiweke simu silent mode usiku ati ndio usisumbuliwe..
Now back to my friends last night ordeal. Most probably, the neighbours hawakusikia simu. And we cant blame them. But it has reminded me of a client of mine who once got a visit from majambazi. Unfortunately, alikua na homa na sauti yake ilikua imepotea. She tried screaming lakini wapiiii, tried calling all neighbours but only one picked. Unfortunately, alikua mbali. Kitu ilimuokoa ni vile mwizi alifika kwa mlango, the solar anti intruder alarm got triggered, ikapiga wiiuuu wiiiuuu wiiiuuu and the thieves ran away.
