It was colour and pomp in Nairobi when the first high speed Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) trains arrived in Nairobi.
The trains are expected to start work before the next general elections and according to our source, President Kenyatta may unveil them before New Year. The construction of the railway from Mombasa to Nairobi is now 99 % complete, meaning that in the next 2 weeks, it will be 100 % complete. Once completed, the only work would be to launch the trains.
As expected, SGR trains will be twice as fast as the buses plying on Nairobi-Mombasa route. It will be a relief for many Kenyans because they won’t experience the normal traffic jams on the Mombasa Road.
