Former Gatanga Member of Parliament, Peter Kenneth has announced he is in the race to succeed Evans Kidero as the Nairobi Governor.
Mr Kenneth made the announcement at Kasarani while accompanied by several Mount Kenya leaders led by Starehe Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda.
The former presidential candidate’s latest move means that Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko, who is eyeing the position on a Jubilee ticket must chicken out before the nomination dates so as to secure a ticket for the seat.
Secret opinion conducted in Nairobi late last month showed that Sonko is the most popular candidate for the seat with 51 %, followed by Kidero with 39 %, the rest are shared by Sakaja,Kenneth and Mr Waweru. What does this mean? That even if Sonko vies as an independent candidate, he will floor all the candidates. And what does Peter Kenneth’s candidature means? That he is being groomed to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
