Steve Mbogo is one of the wealthiest youths in Kenya. The former Nairobi University student started accumulating wealth even before he joined the most prestigious university in Kenya.
In one of the interviews earlier this year, Steve shocked Kenyans when he said: “I don’t like the term ‘new money’ being used in reference to myself.” ,Steve Mbogo and money have been best friends for more than a decade. I made my first million at 18 years, selling scrap metal. By 22, I had bought my own house and was driving the first AMG Mercedes Benz S class in Kenya.”
Mbogo is one of the few youths who own homes in Karen. The former Starehe MP aspirant has a home in the posh estate which sits on 5 acres. Besides, he owns a chopper, which is often heard landing in wee hours of the night.
In an interview with The Nairobian a year ago, Mbogo revealed all his assets:
“I own an aviation company with 16 planes. I do commodities trading and I am in real estate. I also have two mining concessions in Kenya, one in DRC and another in Tanzania,” he says. But when pressed about the name of the aviation company, or the commodities he trades in, Mbogo says, that he “can’t reveal since his partners are uncomfortable with publicity”.
The Flambouyant businessman wears Louis Vuitton shoes, which are worth Ksh 200,000 each.His suits are imported from renown designers like Masimo Bossi, Masimo Dutti and Canali,they cost at least Ksh 800,000 each.
While chatting with friends in one of the restaurants in Nairobi, he mistakenly revealed how much he spends per day. Everyone in the room felt intimidated when he quoted,”Ksh 200,000”.
Even as other youths struggle to make ends meet, the 31-year-old has already made over Ksh 5 billion.
