Former student of Mount Kenya University has narrated how she infected over 2000 people with HIV.Leah, who died yesterday at a Nairobi Hospital through opportunistic disease, wrote this in a book she gave to her father.
“I wish God could give me one more year to confess my sins. The pain I have gone through has made me regret my actions.
While in Mount Kenya University, I infected a total of 886 students, 7 lecturers and several locals. I did this because of bitterness.
I got HIV from my army friend when I was in form two.It happened that the guy was my neighbor.We started exchanging eye signals and later a conversation started.We ended up having intimacy without protection. I was naïve at that time, even my level of thinking was low,that’s why Andrew managed to win me.I also liked the way he used to do shopping for me especially during school opening day.My father used to give me Ksh800 for pocket money while this boyfriend gave me Ksh 2,000.I found myself loving him more than my father.
I came to realize I was HIV positive when I seriously got ill in form three. I was rushed to Eldoret Hospital where I was diagnosed with HIV related complications. When delivering the news,my doctor came to my bed,sat next to me and said this,”we have done all the tests and found out you are suffering from a disease that requires eating of special meals and always using protection to avoid infecting others.The disease doesn’t kill instantly because you will be under medication…you can live your full lifespan if you take care of yourself”. He left.
The doctor left me disoriented. I didn’t know what the statement meant but I started digesting word after word. I finally found the answer. I AM HIV POSITIVE.
I stayed in the hospital for one week under medication and strict diet. In my last day, the doctor called me into his room and gave me dozens of drugs. He told me to take the drugs daily and when I exhaust them, I request for more from my father. This statement alone answered my many unanswered questions about my disease.
After realizing I was in hospital, my Army boyfriend disappeared from my village-he feared my family would call for his arrest.
In 2008 I joined Mount Kenya University for a Bachelor of Commerce degree. This time I was mature but deep inside very bitter about my life.I had made up my mind that I would sleep with anyone who seduced me.During freshers welcome party, when senior male university students take advantage of freshers,I managed to infect three men.
My college life started on that bad note and I made sure each time I sleep with a man, I noted down his name and the course he was pursuing. In this book, I have all the names of students I slept with which include the courses they pursued. In my four year period at Mount Kenya University, I slept with 886 students and 7 lecturers. However, the students are from various universities in Kenya.
Until 2017 December, I had infected at least 2,000 men. I particularly sympathize with my fellow bank employees because almost every man in my branch slept with me without protection. I thank God my boss used protection
