Salary of a Bachelor of Statistics Fresh Graduate in Kenya

331

Someone asked me about the salary of a Bachelor of Statistics graduate in Kenya. Well, based on my personal experience, a fresh graduate earns between Ksh30,000 and Ksh 120,000 per month depending on the institution they work for. The highest paying institutions are NGOs and organizations like Kemri which pay at least Ksh 70,000 per month. Banks pay Ksh 30,000 to Ksh 70,000 as starting salary.

If you get a job in the government institutions like Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, you’ll earn a starting salary of Ksh69, 000.Parastatals pay higher, some up to Ksh150, 000 per month especially those in Grade A.

Some of the highest paying institutions in Kenya include:

  1. KRA
  2. IRA
  3. RBA
  4. Kemri
  5. UN
  6. NGOs like Ilri, World Vision etc
  7. Government parastatals
  8. Insurance companies
  9. Stoke brokers
  10. Audit companies like PWC,Delotte,Earnest & Young and KPMG

As a fresh graduate, don’t expect to earn over Ksh180,000 per month. You can even earn less than ksh30,000 because you don’t have any proof that you’re competent. But with more than 3 years of experience, your salary can exceed Ksh150,000 per month.

If you want to earn more money, pursue courses like ACCA,CFA,Monitoring and evaluation. You should also pursue masters or PhD and be proficient in Statistical tools like SPSS,Stata and R.
