Dick Wathika, former Nairobi Mayor has passed on.
Wathika died on Saturday 19, 2015 while being rushed to Karen Hospital for emergency treatment. His body has been transferred to Lee Funeral Home.
Wathika served as the Nairobi Mayor between 2005-2006 before joining politics. He served as Makadara MP from 2007-2010.In 2013 he vied for Mukurweini parliamentary seat but his political career ended after he was defeated by Kabando wa Kabando.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent his condolence message to the family of the fallen hero, describing him a respectable leader whose death is a loss for the whole country.
“My deepest condolences to the family, friends and relatives of former Nairobi Mayor, Dick Wathika. He was a respectable leader and his death is a loss for the whole country.
Wathika was friendly and outgoing, a trait that endeared him to many and even though he has left us, we celebrate the contribution he made to our society.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family of the late Wathika. It is our prayer that God will give you the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.”Reads Uhuru’s statement
