This article from a Kenyan is telling Raila Odinga to stay at home. The article is addressed to Ida Odinga who is being told to convince Raila to stay at home.It goes like this:
DEAR MAMA IDA ODINGA,
When the family of Mwai Kibaki realised that Mzee was urinating on his pants and speaking in words that made little sense, it decided to hide him from us. When the family of Mzee Moi realised that Moi had developed dementia to a point that he couldn’t remember any of his grandchildren, it decided to lock Mzee in a room where only Gideon Moi could access—and probably, the few chosen to see Mzee at a fee. When the family of Yusuf Haji noticed that Mzee was in a bad shape, unable to use water in the loo properly, it kept him in solitary confinement where only the current NIS director could access. When the wife of Dedan Kimathi was pronounced “demented,” the only person who was allowed to see and talk to her was Kimathi’s eldest daughter. When Ngungi wa Thiongo’o reached a point at which he could not remember any of the books he wrote, only his wife was in a position to touch him—remember, even some of his children couldn’t move an inch closer to him. When the family of Prof. Bethwel Ogot learnt that Mzee was too tired & “almost gone,” even lecturers and professors at UoN were not allowed to see their colleague. When Mama Sarah Obama was deemed “potentially unreasonable,” nobody was allowed to interview her including the journalists from the United States. Ostensibly, nobody is interviewing president Ruto’s mother. Why? At her age, there are certain things she is likely to utter which are out of this world and which are likely to embarrass the first family. There are so many examples I can give. So, Mama Ida, now is the time to start hiding Mzee Baba. Hide him away from the cameras. Keep him in a room where not even Winnie Odinga can access. Keep him in a room where the ODM cows who are doing absolutely nothing for the electorates can’t access to take pictures with him for validation. Keep him in a room where if a man like Uhuru or Ruto wants to access, he must pay a lot of money at the entrance. Let Baba be like an Omweri snake at a museum. Let Baba not be seen limping in public. Limping is a sign of old age but it can also be a sign of weakness. Don’t allow Baba to be seen easily. Don’t allow him to be interviewed even by Ramogi or Mayienga or Otit Mach journalists. Thank you.
