Ruth Odinga is suffering from this condition—why her buttocks are so big

283

Ruth Odinga has huge buttocks which have shocked the nation. However,we have established that she is suffering from a condition known as Steatopygia

Steatopygia is the excessive accumulation of fat on the buttocks and thighs, a condition more common in women, which can lead to a protruding appearance. The term comes from the Greek words “steato-” (fat) and “pygē” (rump), and it was historically associated with the Khoi people of southern Africa. While a natural genetic trait for some, it can also be a feature of certain body types that may be exacerbated by lifestyle in some modern societies.

This condition can create a protruding, 90-degree angle at the buttocks.

The fat deposit can extend from the gluteal regions to the outside and front of the thighs. It is often associated with a specific body type, particularly seen in women, and can be accompanied by lordosis (an inward curvature of the spine).

MODERN PERSPECTIVE.

The body type associated with steatopygia is sometimes viewed differently today, with some individuals embracing it and others viewing it as a feature to be reduced.

Medical and scientific notes:

In medical imaging, its prominence can sometimes cause complications, such as making it harder to view the lumbar spine.

Diet and exercise alone are often not enough to reduce this specific fat distribution.
