How to Renew or Replace a Kenyan Passport

A passport is a very important document since it can be used to process documents as well as travel outside the country.The process of replacing one is very simple,and here is how it goes.
Replacement of an expired/mutilated passport – Requirements

1. A duly filled passport application form (download the form here).
2. The expired, filled up or mutilated passport being replaced and its copy.
3. Three coloured passport size photographs of the applicant. One of the photos must be certified by the person recommending the applicant.
4. A certified copy of the ID of the person recommending.

Replacement of a lost passport – Requirements
1. A duly filled passport application form (download the form here).
2. Original Birth Certificate of the applicant.
3. Three coloured passport size photographs of the applicant. One of the photos must be certified by the person recommending the applicant.
4. A certified copy of the ID of the person recommending.
5. An affidavit detailing the circumstances under which the loss of the passport occurred.
6. A Kenya police abstract.
7. A letter explaining the circumstances of the loss of the passport.
Fees

Expired/filled up passport
A series: 32 pages – Sh. 4,500
B series: 48 pages – Sh. 6,000
C series: 64 pages – Sh. 7,500
Lost passport
Sh. 12,000 (payable by Banker’s cheque)
Mutilated passport
Sh. 10,000 (payable by Banker’s cheque)
