There were celebrations in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, on Saturday when news broke out that their team had emerged victorious in the Cecafa Cup.
The Uganda Cranes beat Rwanda 1-0 to win their 14th Cecafa Challenge trophy, becoming the first team in East Africa to win the trophy more than 12 times.
Ceaser Okhuti was Uganda’s hero after scoring the lone goal to propel Uganda into the ‘sweet’ victory. The team could have scored more than 2 goals, having missed several chances, including a penalty by Farouk Miya.
Despite winning by a narrow margin, Uganda’s coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojovic, expressed his excitement and thanked the players for winning the trophy.
