Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has threatened to call mass action if the government does not come clear on the issue of Eurobond.
The Senator has warned the Jubilee Government led by Uhuru Kenyatta that he would mobilize his people against the government if it keeps on treating opposition casually.
“The government should tell us how they spent Sh 140 billion raised from the Eurobond, if not, CORD will call a mass action”, said the Senator.
He added that citizens have a right to demand for accountability from the government since they are the ones to pay the loans through taxation. He also demanded explanation from the government on specific projects the Eurobond funded.
Muthama’s statement comes days after CORD leader Raila Odinga demanded the government to explain how they spend the money.Raila claimed the projects which the government claims were allocated the money are not big enough to consume all the funds.
However,Deputy President William Ruto has dismissed Raila’s utterances, arguing that all the money collected from Eurobond was spent wisely. He told Raila to stop seeking cheap publicity.
