End of the road! Fredrick James Muchina was shot dead on Thursday evening by assailants who are believed to be sent by a business rival.
Eye witnesses say the assailants shot him several times on the head and chest, ensured he was dead before they left without taking anything from the deceased.
The successful businessman, who could spend a million without scratching his head, was involved in Ivory trade. He is also believed to be conducting other illegal businesses, including land transactions.
He was in the list of most wanted poachers by the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) after participating in poaching several elephants in Solio Ranch in Laikipia, Ol Jogi,Tsavo National Park and other game reserves in Kenya.
He fled the country in 2013 when he got information the government was searching for him. He however sneaked back in 2015 after matters cooled down.
Mr Muchina was a well-known ivory trader at his Kirinyaga home, but no one dared inform the government of his whereabouts.
Ivory trade was banned in 1970s in Kenya. Elephants were classified as one of the most endangered species in the world. Other wild animals in the list include the White Rhino.Currently,there is only a single white Rhino in Kenya after poachers almost wiped the entire generation of Rhinos in the world
