Meru Governor Peter Munya stormed out of a Jubilee Party fundraiser in Nkubu, sending a strong signal that he is done with Jubilee.

Trouble started when the Deputy President, William Ruto, ordered him to join the newly formed Jubilee Party. But the Governor told him on the face that he is not interested in joining any party; he already has a party.

“No one will coerce me in joining a particular party. Let it be known in 2017 will vie on another party and not JP”, said Munya

The Governor hurriedly walked away when a sizeable crowd jeered him, leaving the Deputy President worried.

Meru Senator, Kiraitu Murunga, told the crowd he is in the race to challenge Munya in 2017.His speech was welcomed by a crowd who cheered him all along.

Munya has been a thorn in the flesh of Jubilee administration, pressing for more funds to the county governments. He is among the few rebellious Jubilee leaders. Others include Alfred Keter, Zakayo Cheruiyot, and Isaack Ruto
