Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko escaped death by a whisker on Saturday when Kibera residents dragged him and left him to death.
Sonko had toured the largest slum in East and Central Africa to campaign for gubernatorial seat when his drink was spiked. The Senator drunk it.
“Yesterday I was drugged in Kibera. I got to the house in the morning and my wife was upset and so to say I’m sorry, I took her on a tour trip in the city just the two of us,” read Sonko’s Facebook post
Sonko further explained that his wife was mad at him after the Senator came home late. Were it not for the incident, he could receive a beating.
Sonko is expected to challenge Evans Kidero for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat. The two have even exchanged blows in the past over the seat.
