Talented Kenyan, athlete Vivian Cheruiyot,is the new Olympic 5000 metres champion after winning the race against Ethiopia’s Ayana and a host of other athletes.
Cheruiyot won the race in 14:26 while fellow Kenyan,Hellen Obiri came second in 14:29.The 10K Olympic champion Almaz Ayana was beaten to third place.
Moments after finishing the race, Cheruiyot received well wishes from Usain Bolt, who was standing just after the finishing line.
It was a night of celebrations for Kenyans especially after winning against Ayana,who has been a thorn in the flesh of Kenyan athletes.
Vivian won the third gold medal for Kenya, putting the country at position 16 in the medal standings
