Latest survey shows that graduates of certain universities in Kenya make more money as compared to others from lowly placed universities. Top paid graduates come from the University of Nairobi, which has the most marketable degree courses. The second university, according to the survey, is Strathmore University.
It is reported that if you pursue your course little known universities or universities which are dominated by agriculture related courses, you are likely to earn less than what professionals from other universities earn. The parameter used here is how marketable are courses offered at specific universities in Kenya.
There is one unique thing about graduates from UoN, Strathmore and top universities in Kenya: these graduates are thoroughly groomed for the job market. They are the top cream in the society-even employers are aware. When they join the job market, they quickly adjust to the environment, making them easily recognized by top managers. At the end of the day, they replace the ageing/incompetent managers.
From the survey carried out, graduates from the following universities make the most money
- University of Nairobi
- Strathmore University
- Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT)
- Kenyatta University
- United States International University (USIU)
- Moi University
- Daystar University
From the figures released, the average monthly salary of a graduate from the University of Nairobi is Ksh 120,000,which is the highest among the universities considered in the survey. Strathmore university graduates earn monthly salary of Ksh 108,000 while JKUAT university graduates pocket Ksh102,000.
Graduates from Kenyatta University and USIU tied at Ksh98, 000 per month. The least paid graduates came from Pwani University,St Paul’s University and Tangaza College.The average salary of the lowest paid graduates was Ksh 50,000.
