HIV is a sexually transmitted disease which does not have a cure. Once you have contracted the deadly disease, there are clear signs that you are infected. If you didn’t know how to detect HIV in your body, these are warning signs.
- FEVER
The body temperature should be normal at all times unless you have a chronic disease. When HIV enters your body, the temperature rises leading to increase in fever. At this time, you will feel that your body is burning, where the only solution would be to seek medical attention.
- FATIGUE
In the event that you contract HIV, fatigue will set in.In your entire day, you will feel restless, tired and not ready to do anything.
During this time, your joints, legs and muscles become weak, making even your movements strenuous. You will feel as if you have been pounced on by a group of body builders.
- HEADACHE AND SORE THROAT
Headache and sore throat will not leave you until you cease to exist. The two go hand in hand when AIDS is in your body. You will feel persistent headache which will be momentarily stop when you take pain killers. Sore throat will also be in existence in the time you will carry the disease.
The headache is one of the earliest signs of having the disease-if it persists for at least 5 days, please go for HIV test.
- RASHES ON SKIN
Rashes are also part of what you will always see on your skin. Some of them will be itchy and painful. They will start from your hands, private parts and on your hands. They will eventually spread throughout your body. These will disappear after some days and recur later when your immunity is weakened by the HIV virus.
- BRITTLE UNHEALTHY NAILS
The colour of your nails will change to yellow or grey.As you start taking ARVs, the grey colour will become prominent.
A testimony from Grace reveals how she got HIV.
“I slept with a 35-year-old man whom we met on Facebook. After three months, I started feeling restless, and before I could figure out the cause, I started feeling headache, which persisted for two weeks. During this time, I was sweating all night and also scratching my whole body.
I ignored all these signs until one time I became critically ill. When the family members took me to hospital, I was first treated for malaria before the doctor recommended that I go for other tests. Results from the lab showed I was HIV positive”, explains Grace.
