His full statement reads:
MACHAKOS IS READY TO HOLD OCTOBER 26TH, 2017 ELECTIONS SECURITY FULLY ASSURED.
I have today chaired a Machakos County security meeting where we discussed the security situation in the county and the security arrangements for the gazetted Presidential elections of October 26th, 2017. The meeting was attended by the County Commissioner, Police Commanders and other security bosses.
Machakos is ready for the 26th October, 2017 elections and I assure all residents that we have put adequate measures to enable all to exercise their rights without any infringement. People who are holding meetings to plan on how to prevent people from exercising their rights should know that we know about them and legal action will be taken against them.
In the same vein, anyone who dares threaten another resident that if they vote or do not vote, harm will befall them, need to know I am putting them on notice. You will suffer because swift legal action will be taken against you.
To report any incidents or threats, call the following numbers any time of day or night: 999 or 0704367321. Machakos is currently the most secure and safest County in Kenya and we will ensure it remains so.
Let us maintain peace and love each other as Kenyans. Political competition comes and goes, but we remain as brothers and sisters forever.
