Leaders across the country were forced to address empty stadia as Kenyans gave the Jamhuri Day celebration a wide berth.
The worst situation was witnessed in Kararani Stadium which is designed to accommodate 60,000 people but only less than 10,000 attended. The president and his deputy were forced to address an almost empty stadium.
Ni Kisumu, the County Commissioner addressed less than 100 people, mostly government workers. The same situation was witnessed in Machakos and other parts of the country.
The situation witnessed today could be as a result of the growing number of Kenyans who have lost hope due to high level of unemployment and hard economic times.
