The lake region Healthy Hearts Africa project aims to reduce the burden of hypertension among communities in Kisumu and Homa Bay counties. The project will apply a model that combines education and awareness to increase knowledge and create demand for hypertension related services; strengthens community level structures to facilitate access to screening and referral at the community level; strengthens capacity for service delivery through training of health care workers and provision of equipment in both public health facilities and in work places; and build on existing networks to promote sustainability and expand reach of hypertension services.
We seek to recruit a Project Data Assistant to support the lake region Healthy Hearts Africa. The Data clerks will be responsible for reviewing data in MOH summary reports for completeness, accuracy and consistency before submission to SCHRIOs, review data in MOH and/or project registers for completeness, accuracy and consistency before transfer in MOH and/or project monthly summary reports. Submit monthly reports to project director showing health facility data performance, successes, challenges and any proposed course correction actions to be done. The Data Clerks will be based in Kisumu.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in data review meetings at the health facility.
- Assist in preparation of project monthly data summaries.
- Address queries raised by facility HCWs.
- Assist in aggregation and transfer of data in registers to monthly MOH summary reports.
- Assist administer a baseline questionnaire to HCWs and men in selected facilities.
- Help administer questionnaire to collect qualitative data at health facilities throughout the project period.
- Review data in MOH summary reports for completeness, accuracy and consistency before submission to SHRIOs.
- Review data in MOH and/or project registers for completeness, accuracy and consistency before transfer in MOH and/or project monthly summary reports.
- Submit monthly reports to project director showing health facility data performance, successes, challenges and any proposed course correction actions to be done.
Required Experience
- Minimum of relevant post-secondary qualification (Qualification of Health Records & Information Technology will be an added advantage)
- At least 6 months experience working in Health facilities, experience in CCC, MCH and TB clinics will be added advantage
- Experience in data entry, review and analysis, knowledge in use of MOH facility reporting tools particularly tally sheets, Daily Activity Register, ANC and PNC registers.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Communication skills.
- Excellent reporting skills.
- Good understanding of MOH tools currently in use.
- Able to work with minimum supervision and meet reporting timelines.
- Able to work well with data collection and collation tools including excel sheets.
- Able to work with a multi-disciplinary team of health workers, health managers and data managers.
Candidates must have legal authorization to work in Kenya.
