Most companies in Kenya don’t pay interns salaries, they instead allow them to work and receive recommendation letters, but there are a couple of companies which pay decent salaries even when someone is an intern.
If you want to earn salary as an intern, these are the sectors to join:
- NGO
- Banking
- Insurance
- Research companies
- Manufacturing industry
- Clearing industry
- Milk processing industry
- Teaching institutions
- Media
The worst place to work as an intern is in a government institution. Almost all government institutions don’t have a budget for interns, hence no pay. If you happen to join an institution like The Treasury as an Intern, you will end up not earning anything.
