Ferdinand Omanyala is a Kenyan sprinter competing in 100 metres and 200 metres.The athlete has gained immense popularity over the years because of his talent. Omanyala started his career back in 2015 when he was in the University of Nairobi and right know he is one of the best Athlete we have in Kenya. He was named the 8th fastest man in the world in 100 metres race after he ran for 9.77 seconds on September 18th 2021 in Nairobi. Omanyala has won many award over the years.
Early Life
Omanyala was born in 1996, 2nd January in Bungoma County, Kenya. Omanyala is the third born of five children. The parents are Fred Omurwa and Shikanga Omurwa.
Education Background
Omanyala started his primary school education at a local primary school in Bungoma County. After completing his primary education, he was admitted in Friends School Kamusinga in Mt Elgon region for his high school edication.in high school Omanyala joined the Rugby team in form three. After he was done with his high school education he was enrolled in university of Nairobi to pursue the Bachelor of Science Degree in chemistry and physical science.
Career
Omanyala began his athletic career in 2015 at the University of Nairobi. He started his career in high school as a rugby player. After high school Omanyala was called to join the Kenya sevens teams under-20, but the trial never happened. After he missed the chance to get to the Kenya sevens rugby team he decided to focus on another sport. He started his athlete career and won in almost all the races. Omanyala great talent got him noticed by Coach Duncan Ayiemba, who helped him perfect his talent.
After his hard work and training he was unstoppable, Omanyala won in almost all local levels. In 2017 he was chosen in the Kenyan team on the world relays in the Bahamas. Unlucky, he completed his first race in international race in 7th place. He was also set to compete in the world games Universiede in Taiwan, which he did not go because he was suffering from a severe backache.
Omanyala was featured in the second AK relay series where he ran the 100 metres race in 10.11 sec that is on 23rd January 2021. He was qualified for the Tokyo Olympics the moment that brought him to limelight in Kenya after clocking 10.2 sec.
On 31st July 2021, Omanyala made history by became the first Kenyan to qualify for the 100 metre semi-final race in the Tokyo Olympics. He set a new 10.0sec placing him third. He set another record on the 100 metre race held in Pramtalstadion, Andord (AUT) after finishing the race in 9.86 seconds that is on 4th august 2021.At the Absa Kip Keino classic continental tour in Nairobi, Kenya Omanyala clocked 9.77 on 18th September 2021.
In 2017 august Omanyala was banned to compete at any race for 14 months after he was tested positive for a prohibited substance by the Kenya Anti-doping Agency (ADKA). His couch was not spared to he was banned for 2 years on the same matter. Omanyala was dismissed from all athletic activities through the Athletic Kenya (AK) body.
Personal Life
Omanyala is married to a beautiful lady the name Laventa Omanyala, Laventa who is also an athlete and has been featured in several races, her best being the 12seconds in 100 metre dash. Omanyala and Laventa first met 2016 in a sports event in Nakuru. They then met again in December where they started chatting. Omanyala and Laventa have been together for 5 years and are blessed with one child by the name Quinton Finn Omanyala.

Omanyala has also invested in the real estate sector. He joined hands with ask Homes to develop “The hill” development in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado county.The athlete and his partner will unveil 6 one-bedroom units that will retail at 1.99 million shilling per unit.
