The woman who accused South Afica’s president Jacob Zuma of rape has died of HIV/AIDS. Fezekile Ntsukela Kuzwayo, known to the South African public only as Khwezi died this week in South Africa after suffering from the incurable disease for more than 10 years.
In 2005, Khwezi accused Jacob Zuma, who was then the ANC deputy president, of rape. A case that almost cost him freedom and presidency.
Two years after being charged in a South African court, Zuma was acquitted of all charges. He later became the President of South Africa.
In 2010, Zuma came public to declare that he was HIV negative, but no one got a chance to prove that his claims were true. To give him benefit of doubt, the entire nation settled at Zuma’s word of mouth.
