As online community grows in Kenya, the government has introduced online job portal, ajiradigital.go.ke, which will see over 1 million youths getting part time jobs.
ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru said the programme aims to introduce young people to online work by providing them with tools, training and mentorship to work and earn through online work.
“This programme is in line with the government’s promise of job creation and a response to a globally growing market for online work,” Mr Mucheru said
Youths who will be fortunate enough to get the jobs will earn Sh2, 200 for every job they do but will pay 5 % tax.
The list of jobs that the youths are expected to do include:
Academic Writing
Sales and Marketing
Transcription
Engineering and Architecture
Data Science and Analytics
Software Development/Programming
Web Design/Graphic and Creative Design
Support and Customer Service
Job seekers are required to log on to the website where they will find various job opportunities. They are also required to register so as to be eligible of available job opportunities.
Among the readily available jobs include Transcription, data science and analytics and academic writing. These jobs are feeding many families; graduates are highly encouraged to join the programs so that they can apply their skills here.
