President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to meet Donald Trump this year. This is after the two leaders spoke on phone for the first time since the US president assumed office. Though Uhuru’s conversation was not tapped, below is a statement which was issued by the President’s communication team

NAIROBI, 8 MARCH 2017, (PSCU) -President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday evening received a call from United States President Donald J. Trump. The following is a readout of the call as released by the White House
“President Donald J. Trump spoke today with President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya to reaffirm the strong bilateral relationship between our two countries. The two leaders discussed our economic partnership and mutual dedication to overcoming terrorism and other regional security challenges through close cooperation. President Trump expressed appreciation for Kenya’s significant contributions to the African Union Mission in Somalia and recognized Kenyan troops’ sacrifices in the fight against al-Shabaab. The two leaders also discussed ways to boost bilateral trade and investment in Kenya and the broader East Africa region.”
Trump’s conversation with Uhuru implies that the two leaders share good relationship .We are also informed that later this year, a meeting will be scheduled ,where Uhuru will visit US for a face to face conversation.
