University degree has become a benchmark for hiring employees, but there are careers in Kenya that do not necessarily require degree qualifications. Holders of the jobs pull in as much as Ksh700, 000 per month but they are school dropouts.

What is more interesting about these careers is that experiences supersede academic qualification. It’s not uncommon that companies with a tradition of employing non degree holders to turn down individuals with solid academic qualifications.

For non-degree holders, here are the jobs you can perform without degree qualifications

  1. Member of County Assembly(MCA)

To be an MCA in Kenya you only need a KCSE certificate. Most MCAs do not even hold a high school certificate.

The journey to being an MCA starts from mingling with your locals, promising them heaven and contesting for the seat. Eventually, you will earn upwards of Ksh 300,000 every month for five years, even more!

To be recruited into the KDF, what the government require from you is a high school certificate. During recruitment, degree holders are turned away for being overqualified.

Starting salary of KDF officers is Ksh39, 000 but over time it shoots past Ksh100,000

There are no barriers to blogging. If you have a laptop and can manage to generate good content, you will gain followers.
