Chandaria and Masunkul Patel family are the owners of Solai Patel dam in Nakuru that claimed 42 lives. The two built the dam for business purpose despite outcry from some politicians.
Chandaria is among the richest people in Kenya and he built the firm to serve business interests like the extraction of salt.
Today, Kenyans in Nakuru woke up to one of the worst strategies of recent times. The dam broke its banks and swept several homes. Those asleep were caught off-guard and majority died in sleep.
Chandaria might have had good intentions, but clearly the contractor did shoddy work.
