It’s emerging that Mount Kenya is planning to support opposition chief Raila Odinga.Top leadership from the region have agreed in unison not to back Ruto and instead look for someone who can protect their interests.
Several meetings have been held since the start of the year with several names being fronted. Earlier, they wanted to back Baringo Central Senator Gideon Moi but a secret survey done by the intelligence showed that Gideon may not sail through due to his father’s leadership.They looked around and never spotted a man who can be a real threat to Ruto.Finally,Raila’s name was brought to the table.One thing they observed is that Raila is old—he won’t go for two terms. They also observed that a good number of Central Kenya residents may easily vote for him as compared to Ruto.
Their calculation is that if they present a Kikuyu candidate, people will reject him. They agreed that a Kikuyu will either be the Prime Minister or Deputy President.Their target now is to have a referendum wither they will restructure the executive so as to incorporate the Prime Minister position.This is the position Uhuru will hold in 2022 as Mount Kenya search for a suitable person to lead them.Meanwhile,Raila will go for one term as President,then hand over to Gideon Moi who will then hand over to a Kikuyu,who may be Uhuru’s son.
In the meantime,Ruto’s name is not featuring in this line up.
The only headache is how to tame Ruto, whose popularity is soaring even with many scandals pointing to his direction.Who will blink first?!!!
