Mr Maurice Musoti and Rian Obaga have been arrested after they stole enough money from MPESA for the owners to notice.Musoti is an employee of Safaricom who has been engineering the fraud.
A message from the police confirming their arrest read:
โThe SIM Swap Fraudsters Mr. Maurice Musoti an employee of safaricom & Rian Obaga Nyagaka, a fourth year student at JKUAT studying BSc.Electronic Engineering.
According to the DCI, the following items were recovered: One Laptop make apple, 2,160 Unused Safaricom SIM cards, 44 Used Safaricom SIM cards, Five Till Agent numbers, three Mpesa Safaricom books, an Internet Booster Rauter and two mobile phones; a blackberry and Samsung J7โ
Rian Obaga is a student of JKUAT who was sent to study hard and become somebody only to become too clever for his age. He was arrested and will languish in jail for decades.
