SDA church in Kenya has banned Elizabeth Mokoro from preaching inside or outside the church. The church claims that there are things they arenโt in agreement with the pastor and that she will have to stop preaching immediately or face dire consequences. A letter circulating on social media states:
โWe wish to inform that the below named personnel are not authorized to conduct any kind of church service within and outside our territory.
Names of the pastors suspended:
- Pr Kenneth Maina
- Evangelist Shaban Ndege
- Evangelist Millicent Odhiambo
- Pr Elizabeth Mokoro
- Evangelist Lantena
The 5 pastors are vocal on social media and have attracted admiration from other denominations.
The main reason the church has banned them is because SDA believes that pastors shouldnโt include humour or real life examples in their teachings. The church also condemns people fond of using social media to spread the gospel. They believe social media is for evil people. Pastor Mokoroโs clips are often shared on social media, something SDA doesnโt want.
Some SDA church leaders are also jealous of the pastors because they are more popular than other pastors. They want to slow down their fire and momentum.
Yesterday, as the news spread like bush fire, the church wrote another letter informing Kenyans to disregard the earlier communication. This clearly indicates that SDA has confused leaders who are only interested in fighting popular and influential pastors.
Recently, the church also banned Pastor Matara and Martha Isaac from preaching in functions and churches. The church didnโt give a reason as to why the two were suspended.
SDA is stuck to the old culture where boring pastors were embraced and pastors like Elizabeth are loathed. Itโs because of this culture that the youth never bother to go to church, or have shifted their religious allegiance. The church is attended by people aged 35 and above with their newborns. People aged between 10 and 25 rarely go to church because they get their services boring and less motivating.
