Rigathi Gachagua is under fire after making controversial comments suggesting the country could return to the dark days of 2007 if President Ruto will rig elections in 2027. Leaders from across the political divide, clergy, and institutions have come out strongly to condemn the remarks:

1. Oscar Sudi โ€“ โ€œThat was a reckless and stupid statement.โ€

2. Susan Kihika โ€“ โ€œWe need peace. The events of 2007 should never be politicized. Any leader threatening our unity must be condemned.โ€

3. Kimani Ngunjiri โ€“ โ€œGachagua should watch his mouth. Kikuyus in Rift Valley want peace, not politics of fear.โ€

4. Ndindi Nyoro โ€“ โ€œAnyone threatening our peace is an enemy of the nation.โ€

5. Junet Mohamed โ€“ โ€œGachagua should know war has no winners.โ€

6. William Kabogo โ€“ โ€œPeace is not a bargaining chip for political seats. If Gachagua wants to fight, let him face Ruto directly and not involve Kenyans.โ€

7. Martha Karua โ€“ โ€œThe events of 2007 are still fresh. Our people were the biggest victims. We will re-evaluate leaders in our coalition. Divisive characters are not welcome.โ€

8. Morara Kebaso โ€“ โ€œGachagua could sponsor violence just to send a message to Ruto. He must be condemned by all patriots.โ€

9. ACK Archbishop Ole Sapit โ€“ โ€œWe will issue a full statement on Gachaguaโ€™s unfortunate remarks tomorrow.โ€

10. Wakili B Chebii HSC – “in whose hands are we safe?”

11. NCIC โ€“ โ€œHis words are dangerous. We wonโ€™t allow anyone to set the stage for anarchy. Peace is not negotiable.โ€

12. Governor Waiguru- That was very shameful, unwise and reckless.
