The Kenya Revenue Authority has closed down two containers at the Mombasa Port belonging to Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.

The containers, Portside and Autoport Container Freight, were closed down on Thursday 28, 2016 by KRA officials following executive order by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Last week, President Kenyatta oversaw the destruction of illicit rice, ethanol and sugar allegedly cleared by the CFSs.He immediately ordered the closure of all companies associated with the CFS.

The move comes days after Joho refused to join Jubilee Party and instead told President Uhuru, in front of a mammoth crowd, that his blood is 99 percent ODM.

Joho’s political stand prompted Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko to accuse him of disrespecting the President. The two, Sonko and Joho, almost fought on the dais, exchanging bitter words.

It is not clear whether the President’s directive to close down Joho’s businesses is a way of intimidating him or it’s by coincidence.
