Tenants in Kenya have devised a way to deal with landlords who fail to return deposit on the rent. One of the things they do is block the toilets with ballast, sand and cement. This is to make it hard for the landlords to unblock the toilets.
Another way is to cut electricity wires in the room and also sockets. They do so and relocate to another place without begging for the deposit.
Others go as far as destroying doors and windows. This is to force landlords to use more money to replace them.
Some follow the law by demanding the deposit from the rent tribunal.However,this route might not help.
There are tenants hukalia deposit. They live there until they exhaust the deposit,then move out.
Some tenants destroy sink pipes and also pipes in the toilets.
