    No Eurobond Money Was Lost-EACC

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has stated there is no evidence that Eurobond money was lost.

The integrity body alongside the criminal Investigation conducted thorough investigation where they followed the money from the Consolidated Fund to the ministries where the funds were allegedly dispatched to. But they were unable to trace any lost Eurobond cash.

The EACC submitted the Eurobond report to the Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko who ordered the Auditor General Edward Ouko to do thorough investigations on all the ministries to identify the projects that were funded by the Eurobond money

“I wish to confirm that I have just received from the EACC the investigation file into the Eurobond allegations. In the file, EACC has found no evidence of criminal culpability on the part of any government official and therefore recommended that the file be closed,” said Tobiko

The report from the EACC still leaves so many unanswered questions in regards to the Sh 140billion that Kenyans want to know how they were spent.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga, the whistle blower, is now left with no option but to keep on pushing for unswers. But chances of getting satisfactory answers remain slim.

Mr Odinga has maintained Sh 140 billion was lost from the money floated on Eurobond.Though he didn’t bother to visit EACC offices to explain what he knows, he has tasked President Uhuru to tell Kenyans where he took the money.

Nation Media Group (NMG) has fired over 30 Journalists, a move that has shocked the nation.

  • Cheapest Towns To Live and Do Business In Kenya

As the cost of living continue shooting up each day in Kenya, everyone becomes cautious on how to spend in a bid to save for the future. It has therefore become a norm for each person who wants to save money to look for cheap houses to rent, whether apartments or bungalows as long as they don’t break their banks.

Kenyan are shunning some of the most expensive towns like Nairobi, Thika,Kiambu and Kisii for cheaper towns with plenty of water, good sewerage systems and enough supply of food.

It is shocking that Nairobi is the most expensive town to live in and one of the worst in terms of traffic congestion, drainage system and high rental prices despite being the Capital City of Kenya. Some cities like Dar es Salaam and Kampala are much cheaper as compares to Nairobi.

The following are the cheapest towns to live in Kenya

    1. Kakamega
    2. Eldoret
    3. Nakuru
    4. Mombasa
    5. Machakos
    6. Bomet
    7. Voi
    8. Kilifi
    9. Lamu
    10. Bungoma
    11. Kitengela
    12. Luanda
    13. Narok
    14. Emali
    15. Migoti
    16. Namanga
    17. Kangundo
    18. Lodwar
    19. Garissa
    20. Wajir

It is also cheap to build residential houses in these towns because land is extremely cheap in most of the towns listed above.

Also,it’s very easy to start business in the aforementioned towns due to cheap houses to rent and the low cost of running business.

  • Best Courses To Do in Kenya in 2016 To Easily Get a Job after Graduation

Getting a job in Kenya is becoming increasingly difficult for any job seeker. Even if you have accumulated several degrees, you are not guaranteed a job. What will help you secure a job in any company in Kenya is the type of course you pursue and who you know in the society.

I have seen a number of young Kenyans rushing to study courses just because they saw others pursuing them. Such a move will not take you anywhere. It is better to study the job market first before you decide on which courses to pursue.

Based on the current job market in Kenya, the following are the best course to study in 2016

    Bachelor of Commerce plus CPA/CFA/ACCA/CIFA

Bachelor of Commerce remains one of the most marketable courses in Kenya. But before you decide to enroll for the business course ensure you also enroll for a professional course.

Currently CFA, ACCA and CIFA are the most marketable professional courses in the country but if you are academically gifted you better enroll for CFA because it will guarantee you a job.

CPA on the other hand is so flooded that even academic dwarfs possess the certificate. If I were you, I could go for ACCA instead of CPA.

    Medicine and Surgery of Pharmacy

These are the courses you should consider pursuing before you decide on pursuing any course. There is no time medicine will cease to be marketable in the country as long as people continue getting sick.

We won’t debate much on this because you all understand how the doctors are renumerated and respected as well in Kenya.

    Real Estate

This is a very new course in Kenya which is offered at the University of Nairobi. Real estate has emerged as among the best courses to study in Kenya especially those who wish to work in the real estate, insurance and financial sectors

    Statistics/Actuarial Science

I have combined the two courses because they are highly related. Though Actuarial Science takes more years to complete degree courses and Actuarial professional courses, securing a job is always very easy.

Actuarial jobs are well paying and they don’t necessarily require a lot of work experience. In Kenya, a qualified Actuary’s starting salary is above Ksh300, 000.

Statisticians are also renumerated well and their work is more enjoyable that that of an Actuary. It is also easy to become Data Analyst.

    Journalism and Mass Communication

The online media is growing exponentially. Companies are recruiting qualified journalists to write content as well as work for their stations.

Journalism has a future in Kenya. So if you are talented, better join now.

Other exciting courses to pursue include:

    • Architecture
    • Software Engineering
    • Nursing
    • Procurement and Logistics
    • Sales and Marketing
    • Bachelor of Business Information Technology
    • Law
    • Epidemiology
    • Monitoring and Evaluation
    • Project Management
    • Graphic Design
    • Gis and Remote Sensing
    • Agricultural Economics
    • Quantity Survey
    • Early Childhood Development
    • Criminology and Forensic Science
    • Piloting and Aviation
    • Oil and Gas Engineering

  • Tanzania To Kick Out Foreign Workers Without Work Permit

Fear and tension has gotten into foreign workers in Tanzania as the Government is set to chase them out of the country.

According to the Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office, Ms Jenister Mhagama, the exercise of identifying foreign workers without work permits has already started. The exercise is aimed at kicking out foreigners who do not meet conditions set out by the government. This will allow locals to take up their positions.

Ms Jenister also emphasized that the government has directed companies hiring foreigners to have a feasible work plan on how to prepare locals to replace the foreigners after two or three years.

“The government is issuing 14 days to all employers to comply with the Non-Citizen Employment Regulation Act of 2015, otherwise legal action will be taken against them, “read the minister’s statement

In addition, the Tanzanian government is planning to conduct a survey to determine whether it has enough experts to take up positions from foreigners working there. The exercise comes amid complaints from the locals that foreigners have taken all the plum jobs leaving them jobless.

It is estimated that over 100,000 foreigners in Tanzania, especially from neighbouring nations, don’t have work permits. They are the main targets.

  • Ababu Namwamba Is Gone: Raila Should Start Looking For a New Secretary General

ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba is expected to join Jubilee Party after reaching agreement with top leadership in the ruling coalition.

Though it’s not exactly known when he will announce his political stand, the Budalangi MP has been holding secret meetings with Deputy President William Ruto and it’s believed the two have reached an agreement.

Sources within the government say Ababu will be a key figure during the campaigns in Western Kenya as he will be used alongside Eugene Wamalwa to campaign for Jubilee Party in 2017 general elections.

Though the President is a bit worried that the two might not create an impact, the ruling party is hoping that Musalia Mudavadi will contest for presidency in 2017 so as to spoil for Raila. There are all indications Mudavadi will contest for the seat; he is expected to register a new party before Easter Holiday.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga is aware about Namwamba’s political maneuvers and has given the Budalangi MP a cold shoulder in most occasions.Raila’s allies have indicated the CORD leader is searching for a suitable replacement for Ababu Namwamba. He is buying time to monitor Jubilee Party strategies and identify someone who is loyal.

Sources within Orange House say Raila is keen to pick someone from Luo Nyanza to replace Namwamba.

  • This is Why Kenyan Preachers Will No Longer Be Rich: End of The Road

Kenyan government has banned preachers from soliciting for money from gullible followers so as to conduct prosperity prayers on TV and Radio stations.

The Communication Authority of Kenya has expressed concerns that many Kenyans are stretched beyond limits by these rogue preachers who always ask for money to deliver the preaching. Speaking on Thursday 7, 2015, CAK Director General Francis Wangusi warned that no Radio or TV station should allow the preachers to solicit for money from followers.

Mr Wangusi also stated that TV station will no longer be allowed to air adult content from 5am and 10pm.

“No broadcasting station shall air programmes, including interactive call-ins or discussion sessions, whose content is suitable for adult-only audience during the watershed period, “explained Wangusi

    He also noted:

“Telephone calls or interviews must not be aired without informing the other party beforehand,”

The new rules took effect from Thursday and are likely to affect many Radio and TV stations in Kenya.

One of the programs to be affected most is Maina Kageni’s morning talk show on Classic FM which discusses bedroom matters. The preachers will also have to look for alternative means of survival.

  • Tanzania Revenue Authority Surpasses Reveue CollectionTarget

Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) surpassed revenue collection target for the month of December.

Acting TRA Commissioner General, Mr Alphayo Kidata described the performance as historical after the taxman collected revenue in excess of 900bn/-.

Speaking to the media in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, Mr Kidata noted that TRA collected between July and December 6.4tri/- against a target of 6.6tri/, representing a decline in revenue. But collections from the Mainland and Zanzibar rose to 900bn/ from 490bn/- between July and November last year.

The increase in tax collections is attributed to President Magufuli’s leadership style which has zero tolerance to corruption.

In September 2015, the President sacked head of TRA ,Rished Bade, and replaced him with  Mr Alphayo Kidata. He has also made several changes in the public sector that could see Tanzania become the economic tigers of East Africa in the near future.

  • This is The Article That Forced Nation Media Group To Sack Denis Galava

Denis Galava was fired this week by NMG after publishing an article describing mega corruption, nepotism and all evils committed by Jubilee administration. The management did not take the article lightly; they sacked him.

Below is a statement from the station about his sacking:

“We have asked Denis Galava, the Managing Editor for Special Projects, to take some time off to allow us time to review the circumstances of the writing and filing of the editorial for Saturday Nation, January 2, 2016”

This is now the letter that caused him troubles:

“Your Excellency, 2015 was a bad year for Kenya. All the pillars of our nationhood were tested and most were found wanting. Some collapsed, some were seriously weakened, while others were desecrated beyond repair”

We are talking about the presidency, economy, security and, most importantly, the people.

We acknowledge the fact that it has been a tough year for leaders across the world — what with global economic upheavals and terrorists wreaking havoc everywhere.

However, we reject the almost criminal resignation and negligence with which your government has responded to our national crises this past year. We need not recount the number of lives lost, the losses incurred by businesses and opportunities wasted for millions of Kenyans due to the incompetence of the Executive.

With the exception of a few family businesses and tenderpreneurs who raked in billions of shillings — thanks largely to political patronage — everyone is losing money in this country.

    EXECUTIVE MYOPIA

The stock exchange is brewing losses instead of creating wealth. Companies are sending workers home to stay afloat, while small businesses are shutting down mainly because of Executive myopia.

The people losing jobs are joining millions of desperate youth who have never known a job, despite having an education. This growing army of disgruntled youth and middle-aged people pose a grave risk to the country which, unfortunately, the government seems to understate.

Mr President, unemployment, corruption, bureaucratic incompetence and economic paralysis are the bane of your regime. The country today is crying for action — practical measures to guarantee the citizens that the government has been seized of their concerns.

Instead of providing this leadership, you and your lieutenants — the Deputy President, THE Cabinet, MPs and Senators — have adopted a default campaign mode of regaling the public with tales of largesse to come.

Your Excellency, three years is a long time to live on hope. On more than one occasion you have addressed the nation and promised to fix the fundamentals of statehood once and for all. However, nothing has come of it. Your Excellency, why do you make promises that you cannot keep?

Remember November 24, 2015, when you reshuffled the Cabinet? You promised to constitute a budget office at State House to address the financial mess that’s Jubilee’s hallmark in two weeks. Almost six weeks later, nothing has been heard of it. And this is not the first time.

    RELUCTANT LEADER

Mr President, these half-measures are harming the presidency and your authority as the First Citizen of Kenya besides tormenting Kenyans. Among other challenges, it creates an impression of a reluctant leader, one who enjoys the trappings of office but is not ready to get the work done.

Worse, it suggests that you are being held captive by some forces you cannot disentangle yourself from. You swore to uphold the national good, Mr President, what is it that is holding you hostage?

Mr President, this newspaper supports the presidency as the symbol of national unity. However, we will not sit back and cheer when the very pillar of nationhood threatens its very sustenance.

Mr President, there comes a time when the rhetoric must stop and some work gets done. We challenge you, Mr President, to walk the talk of executive probity and nationhood this year.

For close to three years, you have been declaring your tigritude on rooftops, it is now time to pounce. Not least because your legacy hinges on it, but it is the only decent thing to do.

    Happy New Year, Your Excellency.

  • Twitter Set To Expand Beyond 140-Character Tweets

Social media platform Twitter is set to remove restrictions on the number of characters each tweet should bear in a bid to improve user experience and make the service more appealing to its customers.

Twitter CEO and Founder Jack Dorsey telegraphed Twitter’s intentions in a tweet posted on Tuesday after the technology news site reported the company is exploring increasing its limits on text from 140 characters to as many as 10,000

Currently, Twitter allows individual tweets 140 characters only, which makes it hard for users to express themselves as they wish.

While making the statement, Dorsey noted that companies like Facebook and other forums allow as many as 10,000 characters per post, which makes them more appealing to their users. He added that if Twitter adopts the new changes, the company could gain more users due to better user experience.

In his message, Dorsey wrote that Twitter has already noticed that many of its users already have been including screenshots of lengthy texts in their tweets. He indicated Twitter is examining ways to give people more room to express themselves without polluting the service with gasbags.
